New Media Events Fall '09



The eventosphere has expanded rapidly over the last 5 years and will continue to grow as the internet evolves and offers new opportunities. Never before has a humble techie been able to converse directly with global industry heavy weights about the problems they face and the projects they are are working on.

Whereas the list is by no means definitive, it illustrates the diversity and global reach of the exciting new media events taking place.

TechCrunch 50 - TechCrunch50 is the global competition conference for start-ups.

Where: San Francisco Design Center Concourse, 635 Eighth Street, San Francisco, CA 94103
When: September 14-15, 2009

About: TechCrunch have invited companies currently creating a new product to apply for consideration until June 30 and select what they feel are the best 50 start-ups. These companies or individuals then have the opportunity to launch their products at the conference to the public. The companies will remain unnamed until the day of the conference conference.

Finalist companies receive feedback from a panel of industry experts and one company will eventually win $50,000 prize from the TechCrunch50 organizers. This year, Techcrunch have an Audience Choice Award and other recognitions too. Runners-up are invited to participate in a DemoPit, where thay can pitch their product for one day of the conference (two company attendees for the price of one). Attendees will then vote for their favorite DemoPit company to give the last pitch of the day at the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
